The Deplorable Distortion of History by Japanese Cabinet

2013-09-29     원대신문

Recently, a wide range of concerns over japan's recognition of its history, especially its modern one has soared up.

We are already aware of its deplorable excuses about sexual crime during the second World War, so called 'Comfort women'. Even, a representative of Japan said that sexual 'slaves' had been volunteerly recruited into Japanese Army during the war legitimately. Although there has been a lot of evidence about how Asian women mobilized into battlefields were treated, Japan are not admitting its atrocities and massacres it brought about over the world without historial evidence and logically-fitted reasons,
The line is not ended up. Despite the fact that Korean peninsula was annexed to Japanese empire and even we suffered from what it caused, under the name of colonialism, Japan does not describe it as an invasion but an inevitable decision at that time to survive. In the similar context, Japanese government has argued that Dok-do, which it occupied during Russian-Japanese war at 1904, should be under the control of it. The islet has been our territory since the Liberation at 1945 from the Japanese Empire. In this context, the argument of Japan means that it denies our perfect liberation. It's a kind of violation which threatens our eternal territorial right.
Even though UN has advised it to face its war crimes violating the basic human rights and brutality against universal humanity, Japanese politics has not shown its sincere attitude toward what the world, especially Asian countries, argued over the decades. Rather, Japanese right-wings enforced many shrine worships, where its war criminals are buried, and even tried to enlarge its own national army under the cloak of group defense because of North Korea, in affiliated to korea and the United States though they cannot have any form of army due to its peaceful constitution enacted by more than 60 years ago.
Of course, the statement issued by Yohei Kono, who was Chief Secretary of Japanese Cabinet, apologized its war crimes such as comfort women and colonial practices once. However, recent Japanese politicians seem to overturn the last torch of their conscience. They should notice psychological walls they are building now will be the obstacles which are irrevocable for international communication. I want Japan to admit its atrocity and show sincere attitude toward the world.
